The Window - Animated Short

Roya is an Iranian-American woman living her life with her husband and young children in the United States. Beneath the surface, like many immigrants, her everyday life is impacted by the news of her home country and the constant threats of sanctions and a war that affect her loved ones. Her conflicting feelings come to a head on the Fourth of July, when the explosions of the first firework take her back to the air raids during the Iran-Iraq war.

“The war began in 1980 when Iraq invaded Iran and ended on1988 when Iran accepted the ceasefire. The air raids known as ‘War of the Cities’ included five series of air raids and missile attacks on major cities and urban areas initiated by Saddam Hussein's Iraqi Air Force, with the aim of disrupting the morale of Iran during the Iran–Iraq War.”

The short animation “The Window” will picture the key scenes of Roya’s memories from the air-raids and paint the worries, anxiety, tension, and the trauma that many families and especially children experience during the war.
